As part of the Borehole Campaign launch on 3 February 2016, BWA Executive Committee Member, John Tonkin did a presentation to the media. John pointed out some of the benefits of using groundwater and outlined the BWA's role in the Borehole Campaign. Here are some of the key points from the presentation.

One of the key objectives when drilling boreholes for rural water supply in Africa has been to optimise what has been termed “cost effective boreholes”. Johannesburg Water and the Borehole Water Association have signed a Memorandum of Understanding covering a plan to promote the drilling of boreholes as an alternative source of water.
